This spring feels like a celebration after a long, dark winter. For the occasion, I’m sharing 14 bright and fresh French recipes to welcome the season. These are some of my favourite dishes to make when the weather is warmer and the days (finally!) get longer. New on Cerise Chérie today! Link in bio. 💜
M A G I C 🦚 I’m infinitely inspired by birds. The texture of their feathers in colours only God would have thought to put together. I’ve filled my house with birds - prints, paintings, fabrics, sculptures, vases full of feathers. As a child I had live birds in my bedroom. Cockatiels who snuggled up to my finger and tweeted “pretty bird” over and over and downy parakeets that cooed sweetly in the wee hours of the morning. I loved them dearly but as I grew and watched my sweet pets spend their lifetimes confined within metal bars in cages that faced the freedom of the sky, I promised myself I would never again keep a bird as a pet. To cage a bird feels like the cruelest of tortures.

Anniversary roses, a few opening in the shape of hearts. ♥️ How pretty! He’s full of surprises this year!
One of my goals while we’re here in Santa Fe is to try as many New Mexican wines as I can. What I’ve found is that the vast majority of wines on the shelves are sweet reds. This Cab-Zin from St. Clair Winery is an exception. It’s interesting, not your normal red blend. I was surprised at how light it was both on the palate and in the glass owing to the fact that the Zinfandel component is actually a Zin Rosé. It’s very fruity, with predominate notes of cranberry and raspberry. There’s a subtle hint of leather, light oak and almost nonexistent tannins. We paired it with green chili stew and drank it in front of a roaring fire because it’s been quite cold here, but it would be perfect on the patio on a hot summer evening. An easy drinking party wine.
